Golf For Good Recap!
Last Friday, the fairways of The Pines Golf Club were filled with more than just great golf, they were filled with generosity, laughter and a powerful sense of community.
Local business Boost Brokers teamed up David Mullan, better known to many as @Boldmangolf on Instagram, to host the inaugural Golf For Good Charity Ambrose Tournament, with all proceeds going to the local charity I Have a Dream NZ. By the end of the day, the event had raised more than $10,000 to support young people in the region – a result that left organisers and participants equally thrilled.
The atmosphere was electric from the first tee. Teams embraced the Ambrose format with plenty of friendly banter, while on-course competitions kept things lively throughout the round. Golfers had the chance to take a swing at a $20,000 hole-in-one prize (still waiting to be claimed!) and the day was packed with raffles, auctions and spot prizes that ensured everyone went home a winner in some way.
Taking out the title on the day was the cleverly named team “All ham, no eggs” – Kyril McCarthy, Tiana Wilson and Donny Wilson – who combined brilliantly for an impressive 54.91 nett (59 gross). But while the competition was strong, the true victory belonged to the cause behind it.
Funds raised will help I Have a Dream NZ continue its work walking alongside young people, supporting their education and helping them realise their potential. For Mullan and the team at Boost Brokers, the goal was simple: create a fun, inclusive event that gives back to the community and invests in its future.
Judging by the smiles on the course and the generosity shown off it, Golf For Good lived up to its name – proving that when sport and community come together, everyone wins.
